Our commitment: gambling is entertainment, not income
Playing with us should be a form of entertainment that you choose to spend money on, in the same way as a cinema ticket or a meal out. Casino games are built with a long-term advantage to the house, so over time the money staked is more likely to go down than up. We ask every player to treat gambling as a cost rather than a way to earn money or to make back what has already been lost.
Before you play, decide how much you can afford to lose and how long you want to spend. A budget set in advance is far easier to keep to than one you work out in the middle of a session.
- Set your budget from money left over after rent or mortgage, bills, food and other commitments.
- Treat a deposit as spent the moment you make it, and anything returned as a bonus rather than income.
- Never gamble with borrowed money, credit from other people, or funds meant for someone else.
- Stop when the budget for that session is gone instead of depositing again to chase it.
- Avoid playing when you are upset, under pressure, bored or have been drinking.
Playing only if you are 18 or over
Our games and our account services are for adults aged 18 or over who are in a place where online gambling is lawful. We hold a gaming licence and are required to confirm the identity and age of every account holder, so we ask for documents before play or withdrawal and may repeat those checks later. If we find that an account belongs to someone under 18, we close it, void any winnings and return the amounts staked to the original payment method.
Strictly 18+
Gambling is for adults only. Anyone under 18 who gambles, and anyone who helps them to, is breaking the law, and we treat underage access as a serious matter.
The safer gaming tools in your account, and how to switch them on
Every account includes a set of free controls you can turn on, change or add to whenever you like. They sit together in the safer gaming area of your account, and our team can set any of them up for you if you would rather not do it yourself.
- Sign in to your account.
- Open the account menu and choose the safer gaming settings.
- Pick the tool you want: deposit limit, loss limit, session limit, reality check, time-out or self-exclusion.
- Enter the amount or period you want from the options shown and confirm.
- Check the confirmation on screen and in your e-mail; if you cannot reach the settings, ask us on live chat or write to support@casinoregal.co.uk.
Deposit limits
A deposit limit caps the total you can pay in over a day, a week or a month. You can run limits for more than one period at the same time, and the lowest applicable limit applies. Lowering a limit takes effect straight away. Raising or removing one is held for the cooling-off period shown in your account, and you can cancel the request during that time.
Loss limits and session limits
A loss limit caps the net amount you can lose in a chosen period, counting stakes against returns. A session limit sets how long a single signed-in session may last; when the time is up, we sign you out. Both work on the same basis as deposit limits: reductions apply immediately, increases wait.
Reality checks
A reality check is an on-screen message at an interval you choose. It tells you how long you have been playing and what you have staked and won in that session, and lets you either carry on or close the session there and then.
Time-outs
A time-out is a short break. You choose a period from the options in your account, and during it you cannot deposit or play. Your balance stays where it is and remains available to withdraw. The account reopens by itself when the period ends, and a time-out cannot be lifted early.
Self-exclusion
Self-exclusion closes your account to play for a longer fixed period, chosen from the options in your account or arranged with us through live chat or responsiblegaming@casinoregal.co.uk. We take you off marketing lists and will not knowingly allow you to open a new account while the exclusion runs. It cannot be cancelled before it ends, and afterwards the account stays closed until you ask us to reopen it and a further set period has passed.
Not sure where to start?
Begin with a deposit limit you are comfortable with. It is the simplest way to fix your spending in advance, and you can always lower it later.
Signs that gambling may be becoming a problem
Problem gambling usually builds up slowly. The following checklist covers the patterns that most often come up. Be honest with yourself as you go through it.
- You gamble for longer or spend more than you planned, and the amount keeps creeping up.
- You go back to try to win back losses, or deposit again straight after a loss.
- You borrow money, use credit, sell things or miss bills in order to gamble.
- You hide how much you play, or lie about it to family, friends or colleagues.
- Gambling is affecting your work, studies, sleep, health or relationships.
- You feel restless, anxious or irritable when you try to cut down or stop.
- You play to escape stress, low mood, loneliness or boredom.
- You have promised yourself or someone else that you would stop, and have not managed it.
If one or more of these sound familiar, take a practical step today: lower your deposit limit, start a time-out, or use self-exclusion. Then speak to one of the organisations below. Free, confidential help is available whether or not you think your gambling has reached the point of harm.
Where to get free, confidential help
These UK organisations are independent of us. Their services are free, confidential and open to friends and family as well as to players.
- GambleAware provides clear information about gambling harm and points people towards free treatment and advice across Great Britain.
- GamCare offers free counselling, structured treatment and group support for anyone affected by gambling, in person and online.
- GamStop is the free national self-exclusion scheme: one registration blocks you from online gambling sites licensed in Great Britain for a period you choose.
- The National Gambling Helpline is open around the clock for confidential, one-to-one conversations with trained advisers about gambling and the problems that come with it.
It can also help to speak to your GP, and to use a free debt advice service if money has become a pressure. Many banks let you block gambling payments on your card or account, which works alongside the limits you set with us.
Talking to us
If you would like help setting limits, taking a break or closing your account, contact us on live chat or at responsiblegaming@casinoregal.co.uk. Nothing you tell us about your gambling affects your right to withdraw funds that are yours.
Protecting children and other people in your household
Our age checks stop under-18s from opening an account, but they cannot stop a child using an adult's account on a shared device. If you live with children or share a computer, tablet or phone, a few simple habits make a real difference.
- Keep your password and payment details to yourself, and never save card details in a shared browser.
- Sign out fully when you finish playing, rather than leaving the session open.
- Use separate user profiles, screen locks and device passcodes on anything children can reach.
- Install parental control or content filtering software, which can block gambling sites and apps and set times when devices can be used.
- Talk to older children about why gambling is for adults only.
- Tell us straight away if you think someone under 18 has used your account.
We may ask for further verification at any time if there is reason to think an account is being used by someone other than the registered holder, and we will suspend the account while we look into it. To report suspected underage use, contact us on live chat or at support@casinoregal.co.uk.
